Landscape and object

Glasgow, Scotland

As part of the Land Works research project Tomas Degenaar and Joost Emmerik gave a lecture in Glasgow in which they explored the meaning of the landscape to the people that dwell in it; the impact of putting an object – a building, a dam, a path, a work of art – into the landscape, how this changes both object and landscape and the possible role garden and landscape architecture could play in transporting the atmospheres and inclusive qualities of landscapes on a smaller scale to the built environment.

Based on the 1929 trip of H.V. Morton through Scotland,Emmerik wrote the article ‘In Search of Scotland’ for the A&DS publication Land Works.
